  • Promote and encourage the activities related to the sector, and that they are made taking industrial, operational safety and environmental protection.
  • Conduct researches on the cause of accidents and casualties in the hydrocarbon sector
  • Provide input to the Secretariats of Environment and Natural Resources and Energy for the determination of the policy of industrial safety and environmental protection in relation to the activities of the oil sector
  • Participate in the design and care plans to prevent and respond to emergency situations
  • Create, process and resolve the following:
  1. Authorization in the field of environmental impact and risk
  2. Authorization to emit odors, gases or solid or liquid particles in the atmosphere
  3. Authorization on hazardous waste in the Hydrocarbon Sector
  4. Approval of the proposed remediation of contaminated sites and releasing them at the end of the execution of the corresponding program
  5. Authorization in special waste management
  6. Registration of waste management plans and programs for the installation of systems for collection, storage, transportation, treatment, recovery and disposal
  7. Authorization of land use change on forest land
  8. Permissions to perform activities of environmental release of organisms genetically modified for bioremediation of hydrocarbon-contaminated sites; as well as to establish and monitor the conditions and measures that will be bound by such activities

  • Operational control of the national grid and open access to electricity networks
  • Ensures working generation plants under competitive conditions
  • Plan the transmission network
  • Sets the rules for interconnection to the grid
  • It becomes a public agency in charge of controlling the national electricity system and ensures open access to the transmission and distribution electrical access

  • Law of the Mexican Petroleum Fund for Stabilization and Development, the FUND shall be responsible for receiving, managing and distributing all of the Mexican state petroleum revenues
  • The FUND will seek the stability of public finances and financial backing of the government, must channel public resources to invest in the areas of technology development and contribute to social development through public spending through a Universal Pension System, among other items
  • The FUND is established through a Public Trust administered by the Bank of Mexico, for this purpose a Technical Committee represented by 4 independent directors will be established: Governor of the Bank of Mexico and the heads of the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, who will preside.
